Jewellery Care
Proper care and maintenance can help ensure that your jewellery lasts for many years. Here are a few tips on how to care for your jewellery:
-
Store jewellery properly: Jewelry should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and humidity. Use a jewellery box or a soft cloth bag to prevent scratches and tangling. All our jewellery comes with a soft cloth pouch as standard.
-
Clean jewellery regularly: Clean your jewellery regularly using a soft brush and mild soap and water, or a specialised jewellery cleaner. Avoid using abrasive cleaning agents or ultrasonic cleaners, as they can damage certain types of jewellery.
-
Avoid exposing jewellery to chemicals: Jewelry should be removed before swimming or bathing, as chlorine and other chemicals can damage or discolour certain types of jewellery. It's also best to avoid exposing jewellery to perfume, lotions and hair spray.
-
Be mindful of physical activities: Remove jewellery before engaging in activities that may cause damage, such as sports or heavy manual labor.
-
Have it serviced: Have your jewellery serviced by a professional jeweller at least once a year to check for loose stones or worn prongs, which can cause stones to fall out. If you have any issues with your jewellery please contact our care team at care@touchofpearls.com.
-
Keep it separate: Store different types of jewellery separately to avoid scratches and tangling, for example, store pearl and opals separately as they are more delicate and can get scratched by harder stones.
By following these tips and being mindful of your jewellery's care needs, you can help ensure that your jewellery stays in good condition and lasts for many years.
